VentureNavigator has added dedicated resources for budding entrepreneurs in creative industries such as fashion, entertainment, performing arts and design.
Based on content originally developed by the MDA (Music Development Agency), a Liverpool-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the creative and musical industries, VentureNavigator’s resource for creative businesses provides an extensive source of information and advice.
Creatives eager to set out on their own can benefit from articles which include ‘how to’ experience provided by successful fashion designers , advice on maximising (and budgeting) performing arts showcasing opportunities, or developing a strategy for approaching a gallery with your artwork.
“Among the collection are resources that teach users how to utilise social media as a marketing tool with specific guides for YouTube, MySpace and Facebook. In today’s digital community and with the rise in online activities, this information will prove very valuable,” said Janice Pittis, Project Director for VentureNavigator.
“The breadth of information available though the platform is remarkably comprehensive.”
In addition to the articles providing creative insights, individuals can also seek advice on more fundamental business topics ranging from Tax and National Insurance to Market Research to Time Management and Copyright Law.
“VentureNavigator has a large library of other business resources as well as assessment tools suitable for all businesses and a thriving community forum where individuals can seek advice form other VentureNavigator users.” said Pittis.
Traditional advice such as implementing a marketing plan, business etiquette in European countries, and obtaining insurance as a freelancer are also available.
VentureNavigator went live almost one year ago in November 2007 and now has over 4500 registered users. All of its content remains free to the public.
