What are Target Markets?

The target market is the market segment at which your marketing campaign is focused. It is made up of the people to whom you want to sell your product or service - your potential customers.

The target market might be defined by age, gender, interests, socio-economic status or a mixture of these features; and each group will have its own characteristics and needs. Consequently, your product or service will be, to some extent, shaped by their needs and the desires you aim to create in the target market; and your promotion campaign will be designed to reach them specifically.

Market Research can be used to identify which customers your business caters for.
