About Scottish Enterprise
In collaboration with other partners in the public and private sectors, their aim to support the delivery of the Scottish Government’s stated purpose, “to create a more successful country, with opportunities for all of Scotland to flourish, through increasing sustainable economic growth”.
Over the next three years they will continue to adapt their activities to respond to market conditions and new opportunities that capitalize on Scotland’s strengths to help the country emerge from the recession. They have identified a number of priorities, which offer the biggest potential to accelerate Scotland’s recovery and will form a core part of the Scottish Government’s Economic Recovery Plan:
-
Supporting internationalisation, by assisting companies to expand into new international markets, particularly those which are forecast for significant growth.
-
Assist companies with opportunities to commercialise by improving links between businesses and Scotland’s research base and to innovate by ensuring that they have the right products and services to take advantage of opportunities at home and overseas.
-
Improving access to finance through the investment funds and working with the Scottish Government on the implementation of the Scottish Investment bank.
-
Encourage companies to invest their management and leadership skills in their workforce to ensure that they have the right assets and right skills to become more competitive and implement new business strategies in the post-recession economy.
-
Position Scotland as a highly competitive location for inward investment for overseas companies looking to expand or consolidate their European or worldwide operations.
-
Work with Scotland’s Industry Advisory Groups to develop and deliver industry led strategies, alongside other public sector partners, that identify and respond to global opportunities.
By focusing on these areas they can ensure that Scotland is in a good position to respond to economic recovery while continuing to focus their efforts on their long term goals in contributing to the wider Government Economic Strategy and creating a more globally competitive Scottish economy.
