Investment Readiness Assessment

September 2007 (School for Startups)
The Investment Readiness Assessment evaluates the readiness of a business for investment and prepares an entrepreneur by asking the questions that an investor will ask. It consists of 24 questions and can be completed in about 30 minutes.

This assessment is appropriate for existing innovation-based business that are seeking high growth. It is based on research by Library House and the London School of Economics and Political Science, and has been developed specifically for Venture Naviagator. The questions are grouped into four topics: Innovation, Team, Market and Investment. Between them they will analyse the suitability of your business for investment by either venture capitalists or business angels, as well as making sure that you are aware of what such investment will mean for you and your company.

After completing this test you will recieve detailed feedback outlining specific strenghts and weakness and providing suggestions on how to improve your company. The graph to the right is an example of the graphical feedback provided. In this instance, the high scores in the Market and Innovation categories indicate that this might well be an attractive proposition for investors. However, the owners of this company should be concerned that, given the poor scores in the Investment and Team scores, potential investors may be tempted to take a majority share before installing their own management team and structures.
