I am trying to find competition for my Kerry-All Pouch.

All the 'experts' offering some type of set-up help, advice, etc. say I need to show how my product is better than my competitors...but I can't find any!

It's a woven polyethylene pouch, like a big envelope basically, that has an open end that seals with Velcro. You put your plywood, drywall, etc. in it, and close it up. You can then haul it in an open truck regardless of weather.

I think I have a real winner here, but 'the man' wants me to find competitors. Can you help me?

  1. Hi Lloyd,

When you think about competitors you don't need to be so literal - there may be no be other ‘envelope’ style solutions but I can think of a number of other things that compete:

    - Tarpaulins
    - Enclosed vans,
    - Trucks with roller sheets,

You need to demonstrate that you understand what the alternatives are. This shows you understand the industry you plan to operate in. Knowing the alternatives also means you know the competition. Essentially, just because you don’t think they are competition, doesn’t mean they don’t compete.

I’d say a sheet of plastic was your biggest competitor – it’s cheap, readily available and reusable. Now you need to convince ‘the man’ (and your customers) that the Kerry-All is a better tool for the job.

What you say makes a ton of sense!
