I want to licence my copyrighted sports characters for use on sportswear, fancy goods and much more
I want to licence my copyrighted sports characters which are suitable as a logo on sports clothing and equipment, t-shirts, fancy goods, bed linen, mouse mats, greetings cards and much more, even a storyline for TV or paper media.

Terry,
Have you taken the 'Licensing Readiness Assessment' on the site?
http://www.venturenavigator.co.uk/assessment/overview/licensing_readiness
Do let me know if this is an useful assessment!

Hi Arthur,
Many thanks for your suggestion.
I have lookes at the assessment sections but they seem to be for technology related ideas which doesn't fit my requirement.
Maybe I have mis-read the assessment questions or perhaps I should be looking at another venture website.
If you have any advice on the assessment tool or other sites it will be most welcome.
Kind regards.

Terry,
Looking at the Licensing Readiness Assessment (www.venturenavigator.co.uk/assessment/overview/licensing_readiness), it is labeled as being for universities or research based organisations, but the questions are generic for all protected property, be that for intellectual property or copyrighted property.
I'd encourage you to try it out!
Also, what stage are your sports characters? Have they established a brand of their own yet?
Best wishes,
Arthur. -
Hi Arthur,
I will try the assessment as you suggest.
The characters are seven "super hero" cartoons which feature the themes of golf, football, rugby, cricket, tennis, pool and ten pin bowling.
They are all copyrighted and I have just registered a trade mark.
The problem is that they can be used for sports shirts, other sports apparel, mugs, mouse mats, key rings, clocks, bed linen, greetings cards and other products even a cartoon comic adventure or TV show and there is no single company that can produce all these under licence.
I own a care business and have no experience of promoting such characters although I am prepared to commit fully to the business if I feel that it would be advantageous to do so.
Therefore, to date, I have not marketed the product although I am having some sample golf shirts made with the character on the breast and also some mugs which will suit the Christmas father/husband gift market.
Please feel free to ask further questions or make suggestions as I am open to any advice I can get.
Thanks for your input.
Kind regards,
Terry.
