  1. Hi Tony,

There are several things to consider when thinking of a name for your business, including:

    - what is my position in the market, eg greasy spoon cafe or high-end?
    - does the name need to reflect what I do, eg TG Catering, or should I pick something that isn't so obvious?
    - is it easy to pronounce? I've had clients pick names for their businesses that turned out to be real tongue twisters!

    Good luck,

  2. you can set up an online poll - facebook etc. have these facilities
  3. Hi Tony,

Having re-read your question, did you mean 'how can I find names of businesses I can contact'?, ie to see if they would like to use your service?

  4. If you're going to use the web as a channel for sales, makes sure you choose a name that's available on the web. You can check that here:

  5. Be imaginative & creative and get everyone you know to do the same.
Have a brainstorming session - either in person or via social networking sites - and between you you'll come up with a few great business name ideas.
Once you have a few names to choose from you can do a poll or, if you already have the catering establishment set up, get some baners/temporary signage made up of each of the names you've shortlisted and get public opinion on whether or not the name is successful.
Just a few of my thoughts there, hopefully helpful ones.
  6. I agree with Liz Rushton where creatvity and flare needs to be the platform from which to start. Depending on the niche market you are entering it might be worth looking at a play on words by scouring Thesauras and also consulting mindmaps reference Tony Buzan.
