I am launching my own paranormal magazine in 2009. Any advice / help / interest please???

I am not an IPC Media or an EMAP, at this stage I am just a one man band with a "band" of up an coming talented writers and designer who all have healthy interests in all things encapsulated in the paranormal umbrella. What I want to do is to make the magazine fun, informative and entertaining. We have some excellent features planned for Issue 1 and beyond. The plan is to launch the magazine in several locations across the UK in 2009. Mention paranormal to most people and they names Most Haunted, Yvette and Karl, Derek Acorah, Richard Felix and that bald guy with the big ears crops up and if I can get Haunted Magazine mentioned in the same ghostly breath as all that it would certainly be some achievement. We have some cracking features for Issue 1 planned including a county by county guide to the scariest / most haunted places, interviews with top mediums and clairvoyants, an excellent classified (but not top secret section) enabling even the smallest and yet unknown paranormal clubs or investigative groups to get metioned. I really feel and believe that by taking a subject that is talked about, questioned, criticized and loved by thousands and thousands of people and putting into a bi-monthly (at first) 100 Page A4 Lifestyle Glossy Magazine can only help the paranormal industry to grow bigger and bigger.

HAUNTED Packed full of scary goodness
FIRST ISSUE – It’s going to be DEAD good

If it wasn’t for those pesky kids – we unmask every “pretend” ghost as we go in search of the history of Scooby Dooby Doo and his (pedigree) chums.
Haunted Nottinghamshire – the most up to date paranormal information on the county that brought you Robin Hood, Brian Clough and Imperial Leather.
Death and Axes – The history of Friday the 13th, and a gruesome body count – who got killed, how and by whom
The top ten ghost rides in the UK – we road test the top ten scary rides in the UK, aren’t we brave?
Interviews with Derek Acorah, Derren Brown and Shirley Ghostman to name but three.
And much more, we haven’t even scratched the surface!!
Come on and join the fun, don’t be a scaredy cat?

We have targeted what I feel would be excellent candidates for "Scare a Pair" and will hopefully from Issue 2 or 3 be featuring such legends as "The Chuckle Brothers", "Ant & Dec" and "Richard and Judy". It's where I want to take Haunted Magazine, away from crystals and reike healing and that aspect of the paranormal, although I am by no means dismissing that side of the coin. The target audience is 18-45 year olds and who have a belief or an open minded idea or even a sceptical outlook on all things paranormal, want to know more, like to be entertained and love a good read.

Take care

Paul

  1. We have 'paranormal' material on our website www.callassa.com
  2. Have you seen this: http://www.lunanlodge.co.uk/haunted-hotel.htm
  3. How things are changing! When I started Mystic Charms there was so little business advice available or indeed other people starting their own business in this sector. How great it is to see others now. The magazine sounds great and I may have some contacts for that if you wish to get in touch. And for the "Paranormal Public Relations Company" I have been looking for just that! Especially for one of my members who could be the next Graham Norton of the Psychic/Tarot world. Please send me your details so we can chat.
Great to find you guys on what is a business orientated site.
    Well done and good luck
